Chris is a serial entrepreneur and corporate restructuring strategist. He specialises in capital market and capital raising. He founded MCM CoMetro 5 Pillars Venture LLP, a late stage focus VC funds with a few like minded investor entrepreneur. He has been active in the private equity space since 2016 and lead them as its CEO/General Partner since 2017. He is currently the lead advisor for several local companies embarking on IPO listing in Bursa Malaysia and Singapore Exchange. He sits on the board of two listed company in Singapore and one listed company in Australia as the board of directors and shareholders, and several other regional private limited companies. Chris is also the partner to Max Capital Holdings Ltd, a global venture and investment company where he co-founded the Global Investment Community (GIC). He co-founded 12 companies in various businesses such as medical wellness, ICT, eCommerce, and manufacturing. He is the Channel Partner of Ata Plus, a recognised market operator in equity crowd funding and Venture Partner of Singapore Digital Exchange (SDAX). He holds a fund management license from Labuan Financial Services Authority (LFSA) and is also an Associate Partner of 5 Pillars Venture a registered Venture Capital Management Corporation with Securities Commission Malaysia. He is appointed as the Co-Chair of PEMUDAH – the Special Task Force to Facilitate Business (Pasukan Petugas Khas Pemudahcara Pernigaan) by the Government of Malaysia where the secretariat is under the purview of Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC).

Prior to this Chris was the Director of Informatics Malaysia, a subsidiary company that is listed on Singapore Exchange, Director of Dawood Holdings Malaysia where his portfolio includes managing key client account such as Citibank, HSBC, OCBC Bank, BASF, Xyratex, Petronas, Petrovietnam, Exxon Mobil and Gazprom to name a few. He was also the consultant to Bank Bumiputra Commerce and was involved in the transformation of the bank from the old entity to CIMB Bank today where he developed the business plan for the transformation of the bank’s branch and launch the first the CIMB branch in Starhill Gallery, Kuala Lumpur. He was also the consultant to Citibank Malaysia, assisting the bank to setup the Anti-Money Laundering Department and the Consultant to HSBC Bank Malaysia assisting the bank to setup the customer call centre in Cyberjaya Malaysia.

Formerly he tutored for Ottawa University, USA and Salem International University, USA in Liberal Arts & Management subjects, and Sabah Skills Institute, Malaysia in soft skills subjects. He graduated with a PhD from University Malaya with a research in Private Equity and currently pursuing his second PhD in Advanced Private Equity Research from AMU, an MBA from Asian Metropolitan University (AMU), Malaysia; Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Ottawa University, USA, and an Advanced Diploma in Electrical & Electronic Engineering from Wigan & Leigh College, UK. Currently Wong is researching his second PhD with Asian Metropolitan University in the field of economics and finance. He also completed two corporate finance programmes with Harvard Business School – Leading with Finance and Finance Accounting. Chris is the alumni member of University of California Berkeley, Cheong Kong Graduate Business School and European School of Management and Technology.

At his free time, he volunteers as an economy analyst in Astro Awani News and Bernama News.

ASSIGNMENTS

He is currently the Chairman of Malaysia Digital Chamber of Commerce and Honourary Secretary of the Malaysia Venture Capital & Private Equity Association. Prior to this he was the elected Vice President of Global Compact Network Malaysia, a local chapter of UN Global Compact and formerly the Secretary General and council member for ASEAN Retail-Chains & Franchise Federation from 2009 to 2016 and the Charter President 2011 for the Junior Chamber International Entrepreneur Metropolitan Kuala Lumpur Chapter.

His previous project includes Bank Bumiputra Commerce Malaysia transformation to CIMB Bank and assist to setup the first branch in Star Hill, Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur where he developed the business plan for the transformation of the bank’s branch as the consultant. He was also the consultant to Citibank Malaysia, assisting the bank to setup the Anti-Money Laundering Department and the Consultant to HSBC Bank Malaysia assisting the bank to setup the customer call centre in Cyberjaya Malaysia. He was the Higher Education Programme Director with Informatics College a listed education institution in Singapore Stock Exchange.
